Throw Open doors to God - Jun2026

Throw Open doors to God

Reference: Romans 5:1-2 (MSG):  “By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that He has already thrown open His door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s Grace and Glory, standing tall and shouting our Praise.”

In everyday English, to “throw open” something means to open it wide, suddenly, and without hesitation—not just a crack or cautious peek, but a full-swing, unlatched, unbolted gesture. It conveys a release of defensiveness, no ID checks at the door, no chain left fastened. It blends vulnerability with welcome—like pulling back curtains to let morning light flood a dark room, or swinging open your front door to a long-missed friend. By contrast, a “door kept shut” declares, “I control who enters, I decide when, I guard my secrets.” To throw open your door to God is to say, “I relinquish control over access to my heart, my fears, my failures, my future.” It is not a polite invitation, but a bold, unguarded surrender.

The Bible often talks about different “doors” in a person’s inner life. There’s the door of the will, choosing not my own way but saying, “Your will be done.” The door of the mind, letting go of my own opinions, worries, and plans to “take every thought captive.” The door of the heart, not guarding my affections, wounds, or hopes, but allowing Christ to dwell richly. The door of shame, choosing not to hide what I’ve done or what’s been done to me, but bringing it into the light. And the door of fear, expecting disaster but instead being ready to receive Your perfect love.

When you open everything at once—not bit by bit—you stop living like a tenant and start living like a temple. A true temple has no locked rooms for the God who resides there. “Do you not know that you are God’s temple…?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). A temple with a closed-off inner room isn’t a sanctuary; it’s an insult.

I) The most fitting example is not David, who danced before the Lord, nor Paul, who counted all as loss, but Mary of Bethany in John 12:1-8. Six days before Passover, as Jesus visits Lazarus’s home, Mary takes a pound of pure nard—worth a year’s wages, her security, dowry, and future—and breaks the jar, pouring it on Jesus’ feet. She then lets down her hair, a culturally shocking act for a respectable woman, and wipes His feet with it. In doing so, she throws open every door: reputation—gone; financial security—broken; dignity—laid at His feet; pride—wiped away with her own hair. Judas objects, the room judges, yet Mary offers no defence. She refuses even a sliver of self-protection, leaving the door flung so wide it could never be closed. Jesus defends her, saying, “Leave her alone… She has kept this for the day of My burial.” Mary grasped what most disciples did not: you do not slowly open the door to the One who already stands inside your resurrection.

II) What Happens When You Throw Open Your Doors?

From Romans 5 (MSG) — “We throw open our doors to God and, in that moment, realize He’s already opened His door to us.” It’s a powerful truth. This isn’t about pleading with a distant God to let you in, but seeing that He’s already flung wide the doors of grace, glory, and welcome. Opening up isn’t a negotiation; it’s recognition. It’s a yes. It’s an embrace. You stop murmuring prayers from behind the half-closed door of doubt. You stop rattling the locks of control. You walk into the wide-open space of His grace — not a narrow hallway or a waiting room, but a limitless field where you truly belong.

A Closing Reflection & Prayer - “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 1:3)

Prayer for your intercessory session: Dear Lord, Teach us to throw open what we’ve kept bolted shut. Our plans. Our pain. Our pride. Our private fears. Like Mary of Bethany, let us break the jar and not care who watches. For You have already thrown open Your door to us —not as guests, but as heirs. In the wide open spaces of Your grace, we stand tall and shout our praise. In Jesus Name, We Pray, Amen.

Invitation

**Subject:** You’re Invited: Monthly Intercessory Session – June 6

**Dear Church Family,**

Prayer isn’t a phone call.  It isn’t a scheduled appointment in God’s office building.  It’s about trusting Him continually in all we do, ask, or hope for.

Join us for our next **Monthly Intercessory Session** as we gather to throw open our doors to God—choosing to trust Him, letting go of personal control, and inviting His Presence into our lives. It means surrendering your anxieties and actively welcoming His Grace, rather than trying to handle life's challenges entirely on our own.

---

  • 📅 Date:** June 6, 2026
  • ⏰ Time:** 7:00 AM
  • 📍 Location:** WMR Campus, BCC The Church

From Romans 5:1-2 (MSG):  “By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that He has already thrown open His door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s Grace and Glory, standing tall and shouting our Praise.”*

So be assured that during this time together, we will:

  • - Stand where we always hoped we might stand.
  • - Walk out in the wide open spaces of God’s Grace and Glory.
  • - Stand tall and shout our praise.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”* (Ephesians 1:3 ESV)

Ephesians isn’t promising a pain-free life.  It’s saying something deeper:  **In Christ, you already have what matters most.**

Come expectant. Come surrendered. Come as you are.  Let’s stand together in the wide open spaces of His grace.

**You are invited. You are needed. You are welcome.**

In Christ,

Come ready to throw open your doors to God—just as others have before us:

· Mary of Bethany broke her alabaster jar and poured out everything valuable at Jesus' feet, not caring who watched or judged.

· Esther took a bold step to fast and pray, risking her life to receive favourable safety for her people, saying, "If I perish, I perish."

· Ruth determined to stay with Naomi, leaving her own land and future, walking into an unknown journey that God would use to form the lineage of David and Jesus.

They didn't hold back. Neither should we.

Let's stand together in the wide open spaces of His Grace and Glory—praying, trusting, surrendering.

You are needed. You are welcome.

In Christ,

*Key Decision Reminder*

Always do what God says. Saul failed to kill King Agag. Hundreds of years later, Mordecai and Esther had to deal with Haman — a deceiver plotting to wipe out the entire Jewish people.

Partial obedience leaves a door open for the enemy later. Complete obedience secures generations.

The Lifestyle of David - Faith, Trust and Prayer

The Lifestyle of David - Faith, Trust and Prayer Reference - 1 Sam 17, Ps 59 and 2 Sam 15 David was known as a man after God’s own heart, as witnessed by God Himself. The Bible reveals many reasons for this, but one of the most notable is his unwavering faith—trusting God completely and placing all his hope in the One who is more than able to guide him. I would like to discuss three scenarios and observe his responses to inspire our faith and draw us closer to Him. 1) When the Israelite army fled from Goliath, David stood his ground, boldly declaring the giant’s defeat before the fight even began, trusting entirely in the Name of the Lord rather than physical weapons. With a single stone, David struck Goliath down, vindicated God’s Name, routed the Philistine army, and proved to all that the battle belongs to the Lord. He proclaimed victory before the clash, relying not on spear, sword, or javelin, but on the Lord’s power. David said, in 1 Sam 17:45-47, “You come against me with sword,...
