Efforts that counts...

Efforts that counts...

Reference- 2 Ch 17

Context: King Jehoshaphat was a seeker and follower of the God of his father and was obedient to HIM; he wasn’t like Israel (at that time, Ahab was ruling Israel). And God secured the kingdom under his rule, gave him a firm grip on it. And everyone in Judah showed their appreciation by bringing gifts. Jehoshaphat ended up very rich and much honoured.

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone - Apostle James in 2:17

Efforts that showed his intention to Seek and Keep Him:
  • Sticking to the ways of Asa (his godly father).
  • Rejecting Baal — non-conformity to the ungodly culture.
  • Removing high places and Asherah poles.
  • This is personal reformation — the king putting his own house in order spiritually.
Efforts that enabled others to Seek and Keep Him:
  • Building defences — not just military, but spiritual covering.
  • Sending teachers throughout Judah with the “Book of the Revelation of God” (likely the Torah or existing OT Scriptures).
  • A deliberate strategy with Levites, priests, and excellent teaching men — anointed teaching in partnership.
  • Systematic, city-by-city, circuit-based discipleship.
Jehoshaphat’s faith wasn’t just in his mind or heart; it showed through real actions—removing idols, seeking God, and teaching His Word. God sees when we put our faith into practice, paying attention to our motives and the intent behind what we do. Every action has a reaction, and God’s response to efforts that honour Him becomes part of the story of our lives—shaping both the past and the future. This remains true.

Dear Father, thank You for reminding us that our faith without works is dead. As we turn the pages of the Bible and notice the heroes and the lives of men and women in the past, we are reminded of the great care You have shown. You are the God who sees us (Elo Roi) and watches over us. Help us to build a life, both inwardly and outwardly, that is rooted in teaching, seeking, following, and keeping You in the highest place we can. Thank You for the rewards You have in store. More than rewards, help us take bold steps of faith and give our best efforts to honour You in our lives. Thank You for strengthening us as You did in the life of Jehoshaphat. We give You all the Glory, honour, and dominion. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Shabbat Shalom from Kent, London

The Lifestyle of David - Faith, Trust and Prayer

The Lifestyle of David - Faith, Trust and Prayer Reference - 1 Sam 17, Ps 59 and 2 Sam 15 David was known as a man after God’s own heart, as witnessed by God Himself. The Bible reveals many reasons for this, but one of the most notable is his unwavering faith—trusting God completely and placing all his hope in the One who is more than able to guide him. I would like to discuss three scenarios and observe his responses to inspire our faith and draw us closer to Him. 1) When the Israelite army fled from Goliath, David stood his ground, boldly declaring the giant’s defeat before the fight even began, trusting entirely in the Name of the Lord rather than physical weapons. With a single stone, David struck Goliath down, vindicated God’s Name, routed the Philistine army, and proved to all that the battle belongs to the Lord. He proclaimed victory before the clash, relying not on spear, sword, or javelin, but on the Lord’s power. David said, in 1 Sam 17:45-47, “You come against me with sword,...

If He said it, He will do it

Intercessory Monthly Meeting – May 2, 2026 Theme: If He said it, He will do it! 1. 15 intercessory warriors showed up – not in name only, but in spirit. - The atmosphere was desperate, eager, and hungry.   - Cases upon cases (prayer requests) were presented.   - Men and women shared words of encouragement and scriptures – all pointing to one truth: He is completely dependable AND TRUSTABLE. Our Declaration - If You said it, You will do it We echoed Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 – God Himself makes us holy and whole.   We started by thanking Him:  For who He is || For what He has done || For what He has already purposed   When we know that God Himself got into the business to make everything holy and whole – what else do we need? Amen! The Testimony of Determination - One warrior chose to stand in the gap over a haircut or personal chores. That’s the attitude of the **Canaanite woman** (Matthew 15) –   She kept calling. The discipl...

Bless The Lord, O my Soul

Bless the Lord, O my Soul. Reference- Ps 103:1-2 One of the greatest expressions of gratitude David shared is found in Psalm 103. Despite the long list of blessings from God, it became a benchmark and milestone for him and for us. In every occasion and opportunity, we must bless Him for restoration, healing, answered prayers, renewed strength, forgiveness of sins, and more. The list is endless because He is a marvellous God.  The confidence confession from David, recorded in Acts 2, says, “Because He goes before me and is at my right hand, I will not fear anymore.” Living a life of blessing Him draws us closer to Him, allowing us to recognize and feel His presence all around us. This is something that can only be experienced, not explained. That’s why believers around the world use this scripture in their fellowship, either at the beginning or end of their gatherings, to bless Him. Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, blessed Him for helping to find Rebecca for Isaac. Jethro blessed Him for...
