Thirsting for God

Shabbat Shalom from Kent, London

Thirsting for God!

Reference Ps 63:1-4

David expressed a deep longing to seek the Lord, saying, "My soul longs, my flesh sighs, and my body faints for You." This spiritual attitude reflects a desire to yearn for Him like a stream in a scorching desert, a waterless and troubled land seeking relief, or a barren, trackless dry land. Such devotion is only possible by keeping Him in the first and foremost place, always declaring Him as our Lord and God.

David had every reason to be completely surrounded by and magnify Him wholeheartedly. He witnessed His Power and Glory while worshiping in the wilderness. He discovered the secret to remaining in the sanctuary, seeking Him, and gazing upon Him in the temple. Moses pleaded with the Lord, saying, "Please show me YOUR Glory" (Exodus 33). Isaiah saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted (Isaiah 6). John proclaimed that "The WORD became flesh and made His dwelling among us" (John 1:14).

Once we experience Him and witness His lovingkindness and favor, it becomes almost impossible to choose the world over the Word. A Christ-centered attitude naturally flows from this profound encounter.

Hence David expressed in V3, Your unfailing Love, steadfast Love, Loving devotion is better than life. Your favour, faithful love, constant love is more than life to me. I Praise You. My lips shall Praise thee.

He is radical in Worship, hence said to the Lord- Here I am in the place of Worship, eyes open, drinking in Your strength and Glory. In Your generous love I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountain. I bless You every time I take breath; My arms wave like banner of Praise to You! I will sing praise to You and not be silent, I will give thanks unto You forever!

For great is Your loving devotion to me; You have delivered me from the depths of Sheol (Ps 86:13). This highlights how David was confident and sought God's comfort through his thoughts of Him. He experienced grace, and God empowered and honored him with the influence of favor.

In Your Name, we will praise as long as we live; lifting our hands, we call on Your Name. We will bless the Lord in Your holy sanctuary like an evening offering. In God, we have boasted all day long. Exalt You, our God and King, every day! We will continually offer a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess His Name! Amen!

I will Bless the Lord

I will bless the Lord, at all times...  Reference: Ps 34:1 - I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. One of the most important attitudes we can embrace in life is making it a habit to bless Him continually. I use the word “lifestyle” on purpose—it’s not just for when we feel like it, but also for when we don’t, because it’s essential. It’s not only about what we do, but who we are.  David’s steady commitment was clear in his words. He received countless blessings from the Lord even before he became well-known. Before everyone knew his name, the Lord knew him for his constant praise and gratitude. Out in the fields, tending sheep in the green pastures, he would sing, dance, and bless the Lord. That was David's preparation to the bigger assignments.  Verse 4 from this chapter really spoke to me: I sought the Lord, trusting in His word, and He answered me, delivering me from all my fears. So, I bless the Lord—Amen, Hallelujah. He...

Bless The Lord, O my Soul

Bless the Lord, O my Soul. Reference- Ps 103:1-2 One of the greatest expressions of gratitude David shared is found in Psalm 103. Despite the long list of blessings from God, it became a benchmark and milestone for him and for us. In every occasion and opportunity, we must bless Him for restoration, healing, answered prayers, renewed strength, forgiveness of sins, and more. The list is endless because He is a marvellous God.  The confidence confession from David, recorded in Acts 2, says, “Because He goes before me and is at my right hand, I will not fear anymore.” Living a life of blessing Him draws us closer to Him, allowing us to recognize and feel His presence all around us. This is something that can only be experienced, not explained. That’s why believers around the world use this scripture in their fellowship, either at the beginning or end of their gatherings, to bless Him. Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, blessed Him for helping to find Rebecca for Isaac. Jethro blessed Him for...
